MOT – Occitan Walk

The Occitan Walk is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to experience the mountains at the pace of walking, discovering the landscape step by step. This non-competitive hike is designed for families, groups of friends and anyone who enjoys walking in nature, exploring the most picturesque hamlets of Marmora.

The loop route covers approximately 6 km with just over 300 metres of elevation gain, following easy trails suitable for children and dogs. The start and finish are both at the Maira Occitan Trail Village, from where the route leads to the characteristic hamlets of Finello, San Sebastiano, Reinero and Vernetti, following the network of trails maintained by the Municipality of Marmora.

The average walking time is around 2 hours, with the option of returning earlier thanks to several shortcuts along the route.

The Occitan Walk is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of the Maira Valley, passing through ancient hamlets, woods and mountain pastures while taking in the beauty of the Alpine landscape. For this edition, the route will be entirely dedicated to the simple pleasure of walking and discovering the area, celebrating the essence of the walking experience.

At the end of the walk, participants will return to the Trail Village, where they can soak up the atmosphere of the Maira Occitan Trail, watch runners cross the finish line of the MOT 19K, MOT 42K and MOT Kids races, and enjoy the convivial atmosphere of the event.

Note: for this year's edition, the Occitan Walk route will not include the lighting of the communal ovens in the hamlets or the tasting of local products along the way. The experience will be entirely dedicated to the pleasure of walking and discovering the area.
